La Petite Ecole de Leeds is a school offering French language and cultural activities for French and Francophone children in the Yorkshire region, where at least one parent speaks French at home.
We are members of FLAM, the Federation of Small Mother Tongue French Schools in the UK.
The aim of La Petite École de Leeds is to enable French or Francophone children to develop and improve their knowledge of French, both in reading and writing, and to help them express themselves easily in the language of Molière, particularly through theatrical activities.
At La Petite École de Leeds, children are divided into 9 classes, from nursery to Year 9. A Year 12 and Year 13 class will be introduced in September 2022 and 2023 respectively. From September 2021, we will be opening two additional classes with the aim of providing accelerated preparation for the DELF Junior B1 and B2 exams of the French Ministry of Education. We will also offer a support year for GCSE French.
Nous accueillons toutes les familles dans le respect de tous
We welcome all families and children, regardless of background, beliefs, or opinions, aged 18 months to 17 years (on the 1st of September), subject to the required French level for each class.
Nous travaillons en collaboration avec les parents
We work closely with parents. At La Petite École de Leeds, children are divided into 9 classes, from nursery to Year 9. The teaching staff work closely with parents to provide each child with language support tailored to their level and needs. Il est impératif que le français soit parlé à la maison. It is essential that French is spoken at home. Throughout their schooling, the school helps children to develop their competence in French as their mother tongue. Families are committed to this through the code of conduct, particularly in terms of the importance they must place on their child’s work.
